Hey look, it's me!

Meet Tory

My name is Tory, and I, like many girls, dreamed of fairy tale weddings ever since I was little. Then came the rise in popularity of Pinterest, which only added fuel to my wedding-obsessed fire. From insane gowns to venues covered from floor to ceiling in flowers, I couldn’t be stopped. It was like my crack. Maybe it should be pointed out that at that point, I had only been to one wedding in my life, and I think I was, like, four. I did have an (essential) job at that wedding though: guest book attendant.

I religiously bought The Knot, Martha Stewart Weddings, and Brides magazines any time there was a new edition. I should probably also say that I’m not married. Or engaged. But if it offers you any solace, the manfriend and I have been going steady for seven years. That has to count for something.

How the Earth To Brides Came To Be

Well, all my and my boyfriend’s friends started getting married. That’s when reality hit. Pinterest had failed to mention the cost of traveling to weddings, hotels, gifts, bridal showers, bachelorette/bachelor parties, engagement gifts, good gravy. AKA the actual reality of weddings.

That’s when Earth To Brides began to brew in my mind. After conversations with friends and family, I realized that damn, we’re all bewildered by weddings (that includes brides and grooms), and we’re ready for a fresh, realistic perspective on weddings. That includes being honest with the fact that yes, you can get wedding burnout, that sometimes your bridesmaid(s) is going to be a bitch or you have a momzilla.

Other Stuff About Me

I graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Spanish. When I am not a wedding guest or a member of a bridal party, I work as a Social Media Strategist for a broadcasting company in the Twin Cities.

I’ll admit, I still (and will always) love weddings. We just need to vent sometimes.
